Product Description

What Is RDP Powder?

RDP powder — short for redispersible polymer powder — is a free-flowing white powder made by spray-drying an aqueous polymer emulsion (typically a VAE or other vinyl-acrylate copolymer) together with a protective colloid and anti-caking additives. The result redisperses in water on the stir of a mixer and rebuilds the same kind of polymer latex the dry-mortar industry uses to upgrade plain cement binders.

The role of RDP in a dry-mix mortar is to bring latex film performance into a one-bag product. The polymer redisperses during mixing, migrates between cement grains as water is consumed by hydration, and finally forms continuous polymer films throughout the hardened matrix. Those films close micro-cracks, bridge the cement binder to the aggregate, and turn a brittle cement mortar into a flexible, adhesive and durable composite.

What Dry-Mix Mortar Producers Get

Four grades available — Rigid, Semi-Flexible, Flexible and Hydrophobic
Tg from -15°C to +25°C — from rigid structural mortars to highly flexible systems
Compatible with OPC, calcium aluminate, calcium sulfoaluminate and gypsum binders
Forms continuous polymer films that bridge micro-cracks and improve adhesion
Standard 25 kg bag with moisture-protective inner liner for export shipments

Technical Specifications

RDP powder is produced in four grades to match the mechanical performance your mortar needs. Every grade is tested in our laboratory before release; a certificate of analysis is issued for every production batch.

Applications of RDP Powder in Dry-Mix Mortars

One powder, four grades, four jobs in the dry-mortar plant. The same RDP family covers the adhesives, renders, leveling compounds and skim coats that dominate modern construction — only the grade and dosage change.

Cement-Based Tile Adhesives (C1TE to C2TE)

RDP turns an ordinary C1 adhesive into a C2-class product: higher bond strength on every substrate, longer open time for slow-fix tile layouts and improved slip resistance for large-format and porcelain tiles. The polymer film is the reason the tile stays on the wall, not the cement.

External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems (ETICS)

In EIFS base coats and adhesive mortars, RDP delivers the flexibility and impact resistance the system needs to follow thermal movement of the insulation board without cracking. The polymer bridges the bond line between the rigid insulation and the rendering mesh.

Self-Leveling Underlayments and Compounds

RDP improves flexural strength, surface cohesion and adhesion to the substrate, helping the underlayment resist shrinkage and traffic cracking once cured. With the right cellulose ether pairing, it gives a smooth, strong surface that takes the floor finish without rework.

Skim Coats, Renders and Decorative Plasters

RDP-enhanced skim coats sand easily, adhere to a wider range of substrates and finish to a smoother, more uniform surface — even over critical backgrounds such as concrete or old renders. The polymer is what keeps a thin finish layer from delaminating.

Packaging: Standard 25 kg Bag

Every grade of RDP powder we supply is shipped in one dependable export format: a standard 25 kg bag with consistent net weight on every unit.

25 kg per bag — a uniform, easy-to-handle unit for warehouse storage, dosing and export logistics
Sealed, moisture-protective inner liner — the powder stays dry and free-flowing from our warehouse to your production line
Clear batch labelling — every bag carries the product name, grade (Rigid, Semi-Flexible, Flexible or Hydrophobic) and batch number, and a certificate of analysis is issued for each batch

Why Choose Us as Your RDP Powder Supplier

One supplier, four grades, one specification. These are the reasons dry-mortar manufacturers keep reordering.

In-House Laboratory and Batch Testing

Every production batch is tested in our own laboratory before release — Tg, MFFT, tensile bond, elongation and water repellency are checked against the published specification, and a certificate of analysis (COA) is issued for each shipment. Our chemists also help you choose between the four RDP grades for your specific application and dosage window.

Custom Packaging Solutions

Beyond the standard 25 kg bag, we offer flexible packaging customization — private-label and OEM bags printed with your brand, custom labelling for local markets, and packing formats arranged to your warehouse or project logistics. Share your specification with the order and we will confirm the details before production.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does RDP stand for and what is RDP powder?

RDP stands for redispersible polymer powder. It is a free-flowing white powder made by spray-drying a polymer emulsion together with a protective colloid and additives, so that it can be re-emulsified in water during mortar mixing and forms continuous polymer films as the cement cures.

Can RDP powder be used with all types of cement?

Yes. RDP is compatible with ordinary Portland cement (OPC), calcium aluminate cement (CAC), calcium sulfoaluminate cement (CSA) and gypsum binders. The grade is selected by the application, not by the cement chemistry.

How is RDP powder added to a dry-mix mortar?

RDP is pre-blended with the other dry ingredients during dry-mix production. On site the bag is simply mixed with water; no special equipment, heating step or additional liquid polymer is required to activate the powder.

Does RDP powder change the water demand of a mortar?

RDP typically slightly increases the water demand of a dry-mix formulation, which is usually compensated by adjusting the cellulose ether dosage. Your laboratory balance should be confirmed in a small trial before full-scale production.

Do you provide samples and a certificate of analysis?

Yes. Every production batch is tested against the published specification and ships with a COA. Free samples are available for laboratory and plant trials, and inquiries to sales03@eclatmat.com are answered within 24 hours.
